Sad to say, I enjoyed reading the book more than watching the movie. I actually was a bit disappointed because the movie adaptation was too short and not all issues that are discussed in the book were in the movie. The movie discusses different issues, such as the importance of education, school, first love, family and friendship. The movie discusses Roberto Ong’s life from elementary to college with the characters giving more life to the movie.
The book and the movie are a bit different and there are some parts in the book that are not included in the film. I am not that old and I did not experience eating nutri-bun, but Bob Ong’s experiences in high school were similar with mine where everything was a first. I read the book way back in high school and I felt nostalgic and sentimental while watching the film. NOSTALGIA – The book ABNKKBSNPLAko?! written by Bob Ong and eventually made into a movie, gave us an instant throwback of the past.
