Is my sarcasm too subtle, or are you getting that I thought this book was a wee bit predictable? It might not have been so bad, but along with the predictability comes women embracing their role as second class citizens, mothers willing to turn their backs (literally- we are in Amish country) on their children in the name of their religion for a crime of (gasp!) humming a tune whilst not in church, and emotionally disconnected fathers who would rather see their bishop in a warm shared bed than see a daughter happy! UGH!Īt the risk of excommunication, I will state that there is the slightest possibility of the book in and about itself not being the sole reason for a less than stellar taste being left in my mouth.
